Analysts Cut Sea Limited EPS Forecasts and Assign Bearish Rating Ahead of Results

Analysts have trimmed earnings-per-share estimates for Sea Limited and assigned a bearish Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) even while still projecting year-over-year earnings and revenue growth. The downgrades come ahead of the company's forthcoming results and highlight sensitivity to earnings expectations, though the key short-term catalyst remains the upcoming release and any margin guidance. Scotiabank Analyst Sees 55% Upside for MercadoLibre Despite Margin Collapse

Scotiabank analyst Hector Maya maintains a Sector Outperform rating and a Street-high $2,800 price target on MercadoLibre, implying roughly 55% upside from the current $1,799.21, even after a severe first-quarter margin collapse. Revenue rose 49% year-over-year to $8.85 billion, beating consensus, but operating income fell 20% to $611 million as provisions for doubtful accounts more than doubled to $1.244 billion and adjusted free cash flow turned negative. The company extended average Brazilian loan terms from five to eight months and pushed into riskier borrower segments, triggering a 15.8% share drop in the first week after the report. Despite the sell-off, 20 of 24 analysts still rate the stock a Buy, with bulls arguing the margin reset is a deliberate investment cycle that will reverse as newer credit card cohorts season and shipping subsidies stabilize. MercadoLibre shares are down 10.68% year to date, trailing the S&P 500 by more than 20 percentage points, while peers Sea and Nu Holdings have also fallen on similar credit-provision concerns.

MercadoLibre Stock Down 38% From Peak as Profits Fall Amid Brazil Competition

MercadoLibre shares have fallen 38% from their all-time high as first-quarter operating income dropped to $611 million from $763 million a year earlier, despite a 49% jump in revenue. The profit decline stems from increased competition in Brazil, its largest market, from Sea Limited's Shopee, PDD Holdings' Temu, and Amazon, prompting MercadoLibre to lower its free shipping threshold to defend market share. The company is also investing in cross-border trade with merchants in China and the U.S., opening its first fulfillment center in China, while its credit portfolio grew 87% to $14.6 billion and it issued 2.7 million MercadoPago credit cards. Management views the margin compression as temporary, prioritizing long-term growth over short-term profits, and notes that the average Latin American makes just seven online purchases a year compared to 41 for the average American, signaling a long runway for e-commerce expansion.

Magnite, a sell-side advertising platform focused on connected TV, reported fiscal 2025 revenue of nearly $714 million and net income of approximately $144.6 million, but faces risks from customer concentration with two buyers accounting for 44% of revenue and intense competition from Alphabet and Amazon. While Magnite trades at a lower forward P/E of 16.9x and a price-to-sales ratio of 3.6x, Sea commands a higher premium with a forward P/E of 26.0x and a P/S ratio of 2.5x, reflecting its aggressive growth profile.
