Vishay Intertechnology Could Be 1% Overvalued Ahead of Q2 2026 Earnings

Vishay Intertechnology may be about 1% overvalued relative to a fair value estimate of $34 as investors look ahead to its second quarter 2026 earnings report. The stock recently traded at $34.22, down 33.18% over the past 30 days and 10.44% over the past week, though it remains up 123.81% year to date. The most followed narrative pegs fair value at $34, framing the pullback as a modest premium, while another view notes the price-to-sales ratio of 1.6x sits below the US Electronic industry average of 2.6x and a peer average of 3.8x, suggesting potential upside. The company is nearing completion of major capacity expansion investments and is positioned to benefit from demand in AI, smart grid infrastructure, data centers, and automotive electrification, though heavy spending may keep cash flow under strain if demand softens.

Semiconductor stocks slide on China competition and AI demand doubts

Semiconductor stocks fell sharply amid a global sell-off driven by concerns over increased competition from China and doubts about the sustainability of AI-related demand. Amkor led the decline, falling nearly 24% after its third-quarter revenue guidance missed analyst expectations, while Vishay Intertechnology, FormFactor, Penguin Solutions, and Micron dropped roughly 9% to 11%. Kulicke and Soffa fell 7.8%, Applied Materials fell 7.1%, AMD fell 7.2%, Intel fell 5.3%, and KLA Corporation fell 5.1%. The rout extended to Asian peers SK Hynix and Samsung, which dropped over 13%, as reports of China's progress in advanced chip manufacturing and the strong debut of Chinese competitor ChangXin Memory Technologies fueled fears of oversupply and pricing pressure.

US Chip Stocks Fall on New Tariffs Targeting Semiconductor Supply Chain

Shares of Micron, onsemi, Seagate, Western Digital, and Vishay Intertechnology fell in morning trading after the U.S. government announced new tariffs of 10% to 12.5% on 60 trading partners over forced labor concerns. The targeted nations include the European Union, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, which are fundamental pillars of the global semiconductor supply chain. Because many U.S. chipmakers rely on imported specialty chemicals, raw silicon wafers, fabrication equipment, and overseas assembly and test facilities, finished chips imported back into the U.S. could now face double-digit taxes under the new Section 301 tariffs. Investors are pricing in long-term margin compression across the U.S. hardware and semiconductor space, triggering a broad sell-off that amplified a global rout which began overnight with Asian chip heavyweights Samsung and SK Hynix. Micron fell 5.3%, onsemi fell 3.9%, Seagate fell 3.1%, Western Digital fell 4.5%, and Vishay Intertechnology fell 3.4%.

Western Digital and Vishay Intertechnology Stocks Drop Over 8% Amid Semiconductor Selloff

Western Digital and Vishay Intertechnology shares fell sharply in afternoon trading, dropping 8.8% and 8.5% respectively, as a semiconductor sector selloff intensified following TSMC's capital expenditure reset. TSMC raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth outlook to slightly above 40% but increased capital expenditure guidance to $60–$64 billion, up from a prior ceiling of $56 billion, while warning that overseas expansion and 2-nanometer ramp costs would dilute gross margins. The news compounded a selloff that began with ASML the day before, as investors shifted focus from robust AI-driven revenue to the heavy cash costs of scaling leading-edge manufacturing capacity. Memory stocks faced additional pressure after a South Korean brokerage lowered its second-quarter earnings forecast for SK Hynix, projecting operating profit of 60.4 trillion won, roughly 8% below consensus, due to the company's reliance on fixed-price long-term contracts for high-bandwidth memory chips that prevented it from benefiting from spot market price surges. Western Digital remains up 144% year-to-date but is trading 29.7% below its 52-week high of $651.88 from June 2026.

Vishay Intertechnology no longer looks cheap after 251.7% surge, DCF suggests fair value near $52

Vishay Intertechnology stock has surged 251.7% year to date, and a Discounted Cash Flow model now estimates intrinsic value at about $52.04 per share, roughly 3.3% above the current market price. The planned US$750 million equity raise at $50 per share helps explain why the market price is close to the modelled value, as investors weigh future growth projects against dilution. On a price-to-sales basis, the stock trades at 2.3 times, above a tailored fair multiple of 2.0 times, indicating the market is paying a premium relative to fundamentals. With broader valuation checks scoring 2 out of 6, the stock currently leans expensive rather than a clear bargain, and the burden of proof now sits with future execution to turn growth expectations into durable cash generation.

Vishay's Capacity Expansion Nears Profit Inflection as Margins Improve

Vishay Intertechnology's aggressive capacity expansion is beginning to translate into profit growth, with first-quarter 2026 revenue rising 17.3% year over year to $839 million and gross margin improving to 21%. The company's Newport semiconductor facility achieved gross-profit neutrality during the quarter, while it spent $87 million on its new 12-inch fab in Germany, which accounts for nearly half of the full-year $400–$440 million capital expenditure plan. Management expects stronger order momentum to absorb new capacity, citing a 1.34 book-to-bill ratio and a 21% increase in backlog to $1.6 billion, and guided for second-quarter gross margin of approximately 22%. Vishay, Amtech, and FormFactor shares fall as SK Hynix HBM slowdown rattles AI-chip stocks

Shares of Vishay Intertechnology, Amtech, and FormFactor fell sharply after a report that South Korea's SK Hynix is slowing its high-bandwidth memory expansion triggered a broad sell-off in AI-chip stocks. Vishay Intertechnology dropped 8.2%, Amtech fell 8.4%, and FormFactor declined 8.4% in the afternoon session. The selling began in Asia, where SK Hynix and Samsung each dropped more than 12%, dragging the KOSPI down about 10% and triggering a 20-minute market-wide circuit breaker, then spread to Europe and the U.S., with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index opening down roughly 7%. Analysts noted that SK Hynix is deliberately slowing its HBM4 ramp to redirect capacity into conventional DRAM, where shortages have pushed operating margins more than 15 points above HBM's, suggesting the move is a margin story rather than a demand story. The broader decline was also attributed to profit-taking after a parabolic run in memory stocks, with Micron falling about 11% while logic-heavy Nvidia fell only about 3.6%.
