Under Armour cuts FY27 sales outlook amid soft demand

Under Armour has lowered its full-year fiscal 2027 revenue outlook, now projecting a mid-single-digit percentage decline compared to its prior expectation of a slight dip. The company attributed the revision to softer demand in North America and Asia-Pacific, with North America now seen falling at a mid-single-digit rate versus a low-single-digit decline previously, and both Asia-Pacific and EMEA shifting from low-single-digit growth to low-single-digit declines. In the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, revenue fell 3% to $1.1 billion, with North America down 9% and Asia-Pacific down 7%, while international revenue rose 5% to $490 million, led by a 12% increase in EMEA and an 8% gain in Latin America. Vietnam hit with 12.5% US tariff, higher than rivals, risking top apparel exporter status

Vietnam has been hit with a 12.5% import tariff by the United States, higher than the 10% levied on competitors like Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. It has also not been granted access to a new textile mechanism that could lower duties on certain textile products, threatening its position as the largest apparel exporter to the US. The measure took effect on Friday, July 24, 2026, citing insufficient enforcement of forced labor prohibition laws. Vietnam is still in trade negotiations with the US, unlike the four rival nations that have already reached agreements and gained access to the textile mechanism linked to imports of US cotton and raw materials. Vietnam overtook China last year to become the top apparel exporter to the US and is one of the countries with the highest trade surplus with the US. Global brands such as Nike, Gap, Ralph Lauren, and Under Armour use Vietnam as a key production base.

Supreme Court Tariff Ruling Creates Market Tailwind Through Refunds

The Supreme Court's decision to strike down President Trump's Liberation Day tariffs is emerging as a market tailwind that few are discussing, with the Treasury Department already refunding $22 billion in May out of an estimated $166 billion owed. Wells Fargo analyst Ohsung Kwon notes that around 40 companies, including Apple, Caterpillar, Dollar Tree, and Tesla, discussed refunds in the first quarter, though only eight such as Ford, General Motors, and Under Armour recognized them as a benefit. Ken Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management sees the repayments as a legitimate earnings boost that could lead to positive estimate revisions and earnings beats, while others like Bob Lang and Giuseppe Sette view them as a one-time event unlikely to move markets meaningfully. Bloomberg Intelligence highlights an earnings-quality test as companies handle refunds differently, with Capri Holdings lifting gross profit by $40 million while Steven Madden excluded the benefit from adjusted results. Kwon expects the refunds to broaden the market and potentially fund capital expenditures, buybacks, or dividends in the second half of the year.

Stellantis launches robotaxi pilot in Luxembourg and Dodge-Under Armour collaboration

Stellantis is partnering with Pony AI and Bolt on an autonomous mobility pilot in Luxembourg, while its Dodge brand has launched a collaboration with Under Armour linking performance vehicles to athletic and lifestyle apparel. A former senior software executive has also outlined identity risks for luxury automakers as EVs and AI reshape vehicle design, sales, and experience. These moves place Stellantis at the center of debates on autonomous services, brand equity, and software-driven identity. The Luxembourg pilot signals a preference for external technology and mobility partnerships over in-house development. For investors, the developments provide context on how Stellantis positions its brands and software capabilities across robotaxis and lifestyle collaborations, with identity and pricing power remaining key questions as EV and AI features become more common.
