Australia to challenge Trump's new 12.5% tariff, says PM Albanese

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he would raise Washington's new 12.5% tariff on Australian goods directly with U.S. President Donald Trump. The Trump administration imposed the tariffs on imports from 60 trading partners on Friday, with Australia among 38 economies assigned a 12.5% rate under Section 301 of the U.S. Trade Act. Albanese's Labor government has described the tariff as unjustified and is seeking its removal, arguing that Australia already maintains strong protections against modern slavery and is strengthening its enforcement framework. The higher tariff could increase costs for Australian exporters with substantial U.S. exposure, including producers of building materials, healthcare products, wine and manufactured goods.

Carlisle shares fall after Truist cuts price target on cost concerns

Shares of Carlisle Companies fell 4.2% in morning trading after Truist Securities lowered its price target to $340 from $360, maintaining a Hold rating. The analyst cited significant cost inflation in the commercial roofing industry from higher petrochemical prices and supply disruptions for MDI, a key raw material. Although Carlisle and its competitors have raised prices, Truist expects these increases to lag behind rising costs, squeezing profit margins through the remainder of 2026. The stock later pared losses to trade at $354.63, down 3.4% from the previous close.

Institutional ownership at Carlisle Companies reaches highest industry score amid mixed financial results

Carlisle Companies has achieved the highest institutional shareholding score in its industry, with ownership exceeding 100% and major holders including BlackRock and State Street. This comes as the company reported a roughly 4% year-over-year revenue decline and about an 11% drop in net profit, though its financial health score remains robust and technical indicators have generated multiple buy signals. The concentrated institutional presence may amplify both upside potential and downside risk for investors weighing reroofing demand and efficiency gains against weaker construction markets and tighter pricing. Carlisle's long-term narrative projects $5.6 billion in revenue and $892.5 million in earnings by 2029, requiring 4.3% annual revenue growth and a $163.9 million earnings increase from the current $728.6 million. Community fair value estimates for the stock range from roughly US$310 to US$466, highlighting divergent views on its valuation.
