It operates through Urban Transportation and Railroad Management Business, Hotel and Leisure Business, Real Estate Business, and Others segments. The company offers railway, bus, and taxi transportation services; and operates hotels, hot springs and spas, golf courses, ski resorts, tennis courts, bowling alleys, skating rinks, fitness clubs, and other leisure facilities. It also develops and sells housing, condominiums, and resort properties; leases office and residential facilities; and develops and operates stores in train stations, shopping malls, and other commercial facilities. In addition, the company maintains a professional baseball team under the Saitama Seibu Lions name; hosts concerts and other non-baseball events through Belluna Dome; and operates and manages amusement parks, aquariums, movie theaters, and pools. Further, it offers fire insurance, automobile insurance, travel insurance, and life insurance products. Additionally, the company provides home and urban development services, pet care products, and builds cemeteries. Seibu Holdings Inc. was incorporated in 2006 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Seibu Holdings first-quarter operating profit up 41%, but shares fall 10% in a month

Seibu Holdings posted operating profit of 26 billion yen for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, up 41.5% year on year, but its share price fell about 10% in the month after the earnings announcement. First-quarter operating revenue was 154.5 billion yen, up 16.7% year on year, recurring profit was 25.5 billion yen, up 48.0%, and quarterly net profit attributable to owners of the parent was 16.7 billion yen, up 24.4%. Segment profit in the real estate business was 11.8 billion yen, nearly double the 6.1 billion yen a year earlier, driving the first-quarter profit increase. Meanwhile, although the company expects full-year operating profit of 53 billion yen, up 16.4% from the previous year, it is forecasting net profit of 27 billion yen, down 30.5%, and the market appears to have priced in this full-year profit decline, leaving the share price soft.

MSCI index changes: Japan adds Kokusai Electric as new constituent

Morgan Stanley Capital International announced on the 12th its regular review of Standard Index constituents. Among Japanese stocks, Kokusai Electric will be added as a new constituent. Meanwhile, JFE Holdings and Seibu Holdings will be removed. The changes will be reflected based on closing prices on the 31st.
