Franklin Templeton's Tokenized Treasury Fund Lands on HashKey

Franklin Templeton has begun distributing its tokenized money market fund through HashKey Exchange, giving the Hong Kong platform's clients access to a blockchain-wrapped pool of U.S. government debt. The Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund, traded as grBENJI, invests primarily in U.S. government money market instruments and dollar cash assets, and is now available on HashKey's Earn channel. Franklin Templeton manages $1.8 trillion in assets and has run a tokenized version of the fund since 2021, when it became the first U.S.-registered mutual fund to use a public blockchain to record share ownership. The product is available to professional investors only and is not available for offering to the public in Hong Kong. RWA.xyz currently lists the BENJI token yielding around 3.6% over seven and 30 days at a net asset value of $1.00, with just over 1,100 holders, though published figures for the fund's size vary considerably depending on whether a single token or the whole suite is counted.

Hong Kong's First Stablecoin HKDAP Begins Beta Launch

Anchorpoint Financial, which holds a stablecoin issuance license in Hong Kong, announced on August 12 that it has begun the first phase beta launch of its Hong Kong dollar-pegged stablecoin, HKD At Par, or HKDAP. This marks the first issuance under the stablecoin licensing regime introduced by Hong Kong authorities, initially targeting institutional investors, corporations, and professional investors. Anchorpoint cites international remittances as well as settlement and circulation of tokenized real-world assets as primary use cases for HKDAP. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority granted the first stablecoin issuer licenses to Anchorpoint and HSBC in April 2026, and this launch marks the start of practical operations under the regime. Alongside the beta launch, OSL Group and HashKey Exchange each announced their participation as authorized distributors of HKDAP.

JPMorgan Approves HashKey to Officially Open Client Deposit Accounts

HashKey Exchange, a licensed digital asset trading platform in Hong Kong, has received approval from JPMorgan Chase to open client deposit accounts. Parent company HashKey Holdings stated that the accounts will support the segregation of client deposits and payments through JPMorgan's financial infrastructure. Previously, HashKey Holdings integrated the HashKey Exchange and HashKey Global applications into a single portal, and on June 30, HashKey Exchange activated client deposit accounts with Singapore's DBS Bank to provide fiat currency deposit, withdrawal, and payment services. In S&P Global Market Intelligence's April ranking, DBS Group Holdings was Singapore's largest bank with assets of 697.77 billion US dollars, while JPMorgan was the world's fifth-largest bank with assets of approximately 4.4 trillion US dollars. HashKey Holdings listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in December after raising 206 million US dollars in an IPO that was oversubscribed.

OSL Becomes First Licensed Hong Kong Exchange to Open XRP Trading to Retail Investors

OSL has become the first licensed exchange in Hong Kong to open XRP trading to retail investors, launching three trading pairs at 20:00 Hong Kong time today. The pairs include a Flash Trade option against the US dollar and two over-the-counter pairs, one against the US dollar and one against the Hong Kong dollar, with the latter allowing residents to buy XRP directly in their local currency. XRP had been listed on Hong Kong's regulated platforms since May 2025, when HashKey listed it, and OSL followed with its own listing that December, but both were restricted to professional investors holding portfolios of at least HK$8 million. The retail launch required XRP to qualify as an eligible large-cap virtual asset under SFC rules, a test OSL cleared nearly eight months after its professional listing. HashKey, the city's largest licensed exchange, has not yet opened XRP to retail, and doing so would expose the coin to a larger customer base. XRP trades around $1.08, up about 2.6% today, but has fallen 41% over the past year, making the listing a regulatory milestone rather than an immediate price catalyst.
