Samo Thong Group Public Company Limited, or SMO, reported total revenue for the second quarter of 2026 at 3.52 billion baht, up 2.48% from the same period last year and up 46.67% from the previous quarter, with net profit of 29.56 million baht. Main revenue came from the production and distribution of crude palm oil and related products at 3.47 billion baht, accounting for 98.57% of total revenue, up 3.93% from last year and 47.31% from the previous quarter. The average selling price of crude palm oil was 38.48 baht per kilogram, compared with 33.75 baht last year, while sales volume declined due to lower fresh palm fruit harvests. The Phanom branch plant began commercial operations, increasing production capacity from 75 to 150 tonnes of fresh palm fruit per hour, and subsidiary A L Palm increased from 60 to 75 tonnes, bringing total production capacity at the end of the second quarter to 345 tonnes per hour, up 35.29% from 255 tonnes at the end of the first quarter. The company is constructing a new plant in Chang Sai subdistrict, Phra Phrom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, with a maximum investment value of 960 million baht, and expects crude palm oil prices to continue rising in the second half of the year due to strong global demand and Indonesia's B50 diesel policy.

SMO invests in palm kernel crushing plant, expects additional annual revenue of 1.5 billion baht

SMO is moving forward with an investment in a palm kernel crushing plant at its Phanom branch, with a capacity of 300 tonnes per day. The plant is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2027, producing crude palm kernel oil, or CPKO, to supply the high-margin oleochemical industry with a focus on exports. It is estimated to generate additional annual revenue of 1.5 billion baht once fully operational. At the same time, the company is expanding its base with a new palm oil extraction plant in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, which is currently undergoing land filling and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Regarding the current situation, palm fruit prices have surged due to raw material shortages, but the company employs a lean management strategy by shifting palm fruit to ready plants to average out costs, while benefiting from a weaker baht that supports exports. Meanwhile, rainfall that began in late second quarter and continued into early third quarter will boost palm output from late third quarter to early fourth quarter.

SMO updates business direction at Hat Yai investor meeting, points to palm oil trend supported by Indonesia's B50 policy

Samo Thong Group Public Company Limited, or SMO, held a dinner talk seminar for listed company executives to meet investors in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province. Chief Executive Officer Kittiphong Phuangmala, together with Chairman Dr. Somphop Sakdiphanon and Asset Pro Management Company Limited Deputy Managing Director Suriya Thammathira, provided information on SMO's business. They stated that the palm oil industry trend continues to receive support from the bioenergy policies of major producing countries, especially Indonesia, which is preparing to move forward with the use of B50 biodiesel. This will help increase domestic palm oil consumption and reduce export volumes. Meanwhile, Thailand and Malaysia are still considering the promotion of B20 measures. Although global energy prices are beginning to stabilize, geopolitical factors remain a key issue that must be closely monitored.
