Solid Power targets South Korea electrolyte JV announcement by year-end as it ramps 45-metric-ton pilot line
Solid Power expects to announce a joint venture in South Korea by the end of the year as it advances a continuous electrolyte production pilot line with a capacity of 45 metric tons. CEO John Van Scoter said the company has three potential partners and has progressed quite far with one on a draft term sheet. The pilot line remains on schedule for equipment acceptance testing in the third quarter, plant validation and operational start-up in the fourth quarter, and first output in the first quarter of next year. The company also completed Stage 1 of ISO 9001 certification and expects full certification by year-end. Second-quarter revenue was negative $300,000 due to a noncash reversal of $1.2 million in revenue from the first quarter tied to a change in milestone-payment assumptions under the SK On R&D license agreement, while total liquidity stood at $419.3 million with no debt.
