Shiba Inu Breaks 11-Month Downtrend After Japan Approval

Shiba Inu (SHIB) has closed above its 20-week moving average for the first time since September 2025, ending an 11-month downtrend, after Japan approved a Nomura-backed exchange to list the token. The token now trades at $0.00000528, down 4.27% in 24 hours, as it retests the breakout. Japan's Financial Services Agency registered Laser Digital Japan, a subsidiary of Nomura's digital assets arm, as a crypto asset exchange service provider, marking the first new exchange approval in the country in four years. SHIB is one of six launch assets, the only meme coin among them, and it joined the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association Green List in November 2025. Meanwhile, an unidentified wallet withdrew 280.8 billion SHIB from OKX on August 24, worth roughly $1.56 million, and exchange reserves fell to 86.98 trillion tokens. SHIB ranks 31st by market capitalization at $3.11 billion. The weekly chart shows the trend change clearly, with SHIB rejecting the 20-week moving average near $0.00001000 in January and again near $0.00000650 in May, but now closing above it. Structure improved underneath, with a June low near $0.00000405 followed by a higher low near $0.00000445 in early August, and the week of August 17 gained about 25% on heavy volume. However, that candle wicked to roughly $0.00000620, stopping just short of the 0.382 Fibonacci resistance at $0.00000636, a level that has capped every rally since February. The daily chart places SHIB inside an ascending parallel channel, with price tagging the upper band near $0.00000600 on August 21 before reversing. Support at $0.00000531 now matters most, marking the channel midline, the July 26 swing high, and the 20-week moving average at once. Below it sits $0.00000499, and the channel base near $0.00000450. Reclaiming $0.00000553 would open $0.00000600 and then $0.00000636. The relative strength index has cooled to 58, with twin peaks near 77 suggesting momentum did not expand on the second push. Two caveats temper the case: a recent 441% burn rate spike removed only about $230 worth of SHIB, and Shibarium activity remains near 1,180 daily transactions. A team member has teased news from Shytoshi Kusama and Kaal Dhairya before August 31, but neither has confirmed it.

Shiba Inu Poised to Reclaim $0.000005 After 207 Billion SHIB Netflow

Shiba Inu is back on track to reclaim the $0.000005 zone after multiple weeks of trading below this price level following the extensive market downturn. The recovery is being driven by a netflow of 207 billion SHIB tokens, signaling renewed investor interest and accumulation. This shift in token movement suggests that holders are moving assets off exchanges, reducing sell pressure and supporting a potential price rebound. The development marks a notable turnaround for the meme coin, which had struggled to maintain momentum during the broader crypto sell-off.

Shiba Inu Unlikely to Reach $1 by 2027 Due to Massive Supply and Slow Burn Rate

Shiba Inu is unlikely to reach $1 per token by 2027 because of its enormous circulating supply of 589.2 trillion tokens and a slow burn rate. At the current price of $0.000004, the meme token has a market capitalization of $2.5 billion, and a $1 price would imply a market cap of $589.2 trillion, which is eight times the combined value of all S&P 500 companies. The community burned only 69.3 million tokens last month, an annualized rate of 831.6 million tokens, meaning it would take about 708,000 years to reduce the supply enough to justify a $1 price. Even if that occurred, investors would hold proportionally fewer tokens and see no net gain in value. Developers are working on layer-2 and layer-3 solutions like Shibarium and the Shib Alpha Layer to increase utility and introduce automatic token burns, but these efforts have not yet significantly boosted demand or reduced supply.
