SGL Carbon SE, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and sells special graphite, carbon fiber, and composite products in Germany, rest of Europe, the United States, China, rest of Asia, and internationally. The company operates through four segments: Graphite Solutions, Process Technology, Carbon Fibers, and Composite Solutions. It offers products for automotive industries, including body and main part powertrains, motor blocks, and brake systems; carbon-ceramic brake discs; friction materials; gas diffusion layers and bipolar plates; carbon-ceramic brake discs; body shell components; friction materials; chassis components; gas diffusion layers and bipolar plates; and sealing materials. The company provides composite solutions, such as energy storage systems, lead springs, skins and structures, thermoplastic profiles, and friction components; fuel cells for energy conversion, as well as for passenger cars and trains, and ferries for zero emission mobile applications; and carbon fiber-reinforced plastics and composites for aerospace industry. In addition, it offers isostatic graphite to produce compound semiconductor layers; silicon carbide coatings for semiconductor production; and heat exchangers, columns, quenchers, pumps, components and assemblies, and pipings, as well as sealing materials for process technology. The company was founded in 1878 and is headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany.

X-Energy outlines up to $1B more ARDP funding as NRC permit targets Q1 ’27

X-Energy announced that the Department of Energy will provide up to an additional $1 billion for its ARDP cooperative agreement, potentially raising DOE’s cost share to $2.115 billion. CEO Clay Sell said the company has secured 7.6 metric tons of HALEU from the DOE and executed long-term enrichment agreements with Centrus Energy Corp. and General Matter. X-Energy will invest up to $8 million in milestone-based payments with SGL Carbon to double medium-grain graphite capacity by 2030. CFO Daniel Gross reported Q2 2026 total revenues and grant income of $54.6 million, with $1.9 billion in cash and investments and zero debt outstanding. The company expects NRC construction permit issuance by the first quarter of 2027 and is finalizing an agreement with a major investor-owned utility for its next 1 gigawatt project.

SGL Carbon swings to Q2 profit, confirms 2026 outlook

SGL Carbon reported a second-quarter net profit of 5.9 million euros, reversing a loss of 25.3 million euros a year earlier, and confirmed its fiscal 2026 targets. Restructuring expenses and impairment losses fell sharply to 2.5 million euros from 30.4 million euros, while EBITDA pre rose to 40.2 million euros from 39.0 million euros. Sales revenue declined 4.2 percent to 209.7 million euros, partly due to the discontinuation of unprofitable business activities in mid-2025 and weaker demand in the Graphite Solutions and Process Technology units. The company continues to expect 2026 consolidated sales of between 720 million euros and 770 million euros and adjusted EBITDA of between 110 million euros and 130 million euros. Shares gained around 6.62 percent on the XETRA exchange.
