Vertical Aerospace nears $100 million equity raise for flying taxi

Vertical Aerospace is nearing a $100 million equity financing to fund development of its Valo flying taxi and strengthen its balance sheet ahead of planned certification in 2029. The New York-listed company expects about $35 million from existing institutional investors, with Mudrick Capital Management and Yorkville Advisors providing much of the commitment, while new investors may also participate. The transaction, being handled by Jefferies, could be announced within days and follows Vertical Aerospace's advanced talks with the UK government for a grant worth as much as £10 million to support manufacturing facilities in Britain. The Bristol-based company has received nearly £50 million in government funding and joined a Honeywell Aerospace-led European initiative to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft into European airspace. The prospective raise would provide additional cash for certification and commercialization but highlights continuing dependence on outside financing before meaningful aircraft revenue arrives, with terms and updated funding runway expected at the first-half business update on August 13.

Vertical Aerospace signs MoU with Sigma Air Mobility for Valo eVTOL aircraft

Vertical Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sigma Air Mobility, which intends to purchase and operate Vertical's Valo electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The agreement outlines Sigma's planned acquisition of Valo aircraft and a joint framework to progress from initial operational testing to fully commercial services, covering aircraft operations, commercial readiness, and customer requirements. Vertical Aerospace noted that engaging operators like Sigma early in development helps ensure Valo is designed around real-world operational needs. Sigma Air Mobility is backed by Luxaviation's global fleet of more than 200 business aircraft and ExecuJet's network of over 100 fixed base operator locations. Vertical Aerospace has about 1,500 pre-orders for Valo across four continents from customers including American Airlines, Avolon, Bristow, GOL, and Japan Airlines.

Vertical Aerospace Signs Long-Term Power Distribution Deal with Astronics for Valo eVTOL

Vertical Aerospace has signed a long-term agreement with Astronics for low-voltage power distribution systems for its Valo eVTOL aircraft, de-risking its supply chain as it moves toward production. The UK-based company already has supply deals with Honeywell for flight control and management systems and Hyundai WIA for landing gear. Vertical Aerospace holds 1,500 preorders for the Valo but is not expected to generate earnings until 2032, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence consensus. The company has access to up to $850 million in financing through a package with Yorkville Advisors Global, though future equity issuance is projected to dilute the share count from 157 million in 2026 to 373 million by 2032.
