Seven to Introduce Self-Service Shipping Terminals
Seven-Eleven Japan announced on the 26th that it will gradually introduce dedicated terminals called "self-shipping terminals" that allow customers to handle procedures for items listed on flea market apps without going through the cash register. While traditional counter reception took several minutes, the process can now be completed in about 10 seconds, including dropping the package into a dedicated box in the store. The terminals, provided by Yamato Transport, allow users to scan the barcode from the flea market app, attach a label, and send packages up to 20 centimeters in height and 33 centimeters in width that fit into the drop-off slot. The aim is to reduce waiting times at the register and lessen the operational burden on stores, with a goal of introducing the terminals to about 3,000 stores, mainly in the Kanto and Kansai regions, by next spring.
