State Council approves four new nuclear power projects with eight units; nuclear power concept stock Jiusheng Electric hits 20% daily limit up
Nuclear power concept stocks were active in early trading on August 3, with Jiusheng Electric hitting the 20% daily limit up. More than ten stocks, including China Nuclear Engineering, Jiangsu Shentong, Hefei Metalforming Intelligent Manufacturing, Baili Electric, and LBT, also hit their daily limit up. Hahang Huatong, Changfu Shares, Rich Intelligence Manufacturing, and Tianli Composite all rose over 10%. On the news front, the State Council executive meeting held on July 31 decided to approve four nuclear power projects, including the first phase of the Liaoning Zhuanghe project, totaling eight new units. Specifically, these include Units 3 and 4 of the second phase of the Zhejiang Jinqimen nuclear power project, Units 5 and 6 of the third phase of the Guangdong Taipingling nuclear power project, Units 1 and 2 of the first phase of the Liaoning Zhuanghe nuclear power project, and Units 1 and 2 of the first phase of the Shandong Laiyang nuclear power project. A research report from Caitong Securities pointed out that this approval confirms the trend of large-scale and regularized nuclear power construction during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, with the sector's medium- to long-term prosperity and growth certainty continuing to strengthen. Nuclear power equipment and engineering construction segments are expected to be the first to benefit from order releases. The Wind Nuclear Power Index has fallen nearly 12% cumulatively this year. Among the 43 nuclear power concept stocks, only five—Guangzhi Technology, Yongding Co., Ltd., Orient Zirconic, and CGN Power—have seen cumulative gains exceeding 10% this year. As of July 30, the margin trading balances of eight of the 43 nuclear power concept stocks had increased compared to the end of last year, with Yingliu Electromechanical, Huaneng Power International, and Yongxing Special Materials Technology leading the gains.
