CITIC Press first-half net profit falls over 30 percent as IP operations become new engine

CITIC Press disclosed its interim financial report for the first half of 2026, achieving operating revenue of 791 million yuan, down 3.87 percent year on year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of 77 million yuan, down 36.42 percent year on year. Revenue from IP operations grew 174.46 percent year on year, becoming a new growth engine for the company, with sales of a single IP derivative exceeding 20 million yuan, and the company has officially elevated IP operations to its fourth main business pillar. The traditional book publishing and distribution business was affected by the high base from the previous year's super bestseller, the Nezha: Tales of the Three Realms series, with revenue down 13.64 percent year on year, dragging down overall performance. Digital intelligence services and urban cultural space operations achieved growth of 8.32 percent and 13.47 percent respectively, with the Zhixin platform serving nearly 300 corporate clients in total, and the flagship store at Joy City in Beijing's Chaoyang district drawing over 100,000 visits in its first week. Selling expenses rose 15.92 percent year on year, and research and development investment increased 41.65 percent, mainly used for the development of a supply chain collaboration platform and the Kuafu AI platform, while net cash flow from operating activities decreased 46.45 percent year on year. The board of directors has drawn up a profit distribution plan, using total share capital of 190 million shares as the base, to distribute a cash dividend of 1.02 yuan per 10 shares to all shareholders before tax, with total cash dividends planned at approximately 19.4 million yuan.

Supernode concept heats up, Gongjin shares hit limit up

The supernode concept warmed up in early trading on the A-share market, with the switch sub-sector leading gains. Gongjin shares hit the daily limit up less than six minutes after the open, and by midday the limit-up order backlog exceeded 110,000 lots. On the news front, Alibaba Cloud's Lingjun Zhenwu M890 supernode instance officially went live on August 12, with the first batch available for sale in the Ulanqab region. Enterprise customers can activate a 64-card high-speed interconnected computing unit on the cloud, capable of supporting inference for MoE large models with up to ten trillion parameters. Liu Gaochang, chief computer analyst at Sinolink Securities, said the supernode industry has entered a phase of large-scale deployment, with the core incremental opportunities lying in switches and switching chips, servers and cabinets, and connectors. The AI corpus concept was also active, with Dook Media surging in early trading to touch the 20 percent daily limit up, and rising 8.67 percent by midday. CITIC Press and China Publishing were among other stocks that followed higher.
