HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fraser Industries LLC to cooperate on shipyard modernization projects aimed at revitalizing the U.S. shipbuilding industry. The two companies plan to collaborate across the entire shipyard lifecycle, from construction to operations, including yard layout design, deployment of robotics and automation, and implementation of AI-driven digital solutions. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering will provide an integrated package of technologies and expertise required to build smart shipyards, covering design, production systems, and data management. The partners intend to sign a contract this year for a modernization consulting program, using Fraser Shipyards on Lake Superior as a demonstration model. The initiative aligns with the U.S. government's Maritime Prosperity Zones and the Great Lakes region's emergence as a key hub for shipbuilding revitalization.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Company Limited has signed a deal with Siemens Digital Industries Software to develop an AI-powered shipyard aimed at transforming the shipbuilding industry. The next-generation AI-based marine platform will integrate the entire shipbuilding process from vessel design onward, providing consistent information across every stage. Shipyards will be able to transmit design changes and real-time production status updates directly to the production floor and supply chain. HD Korea Shipbuilding will develop a virtual shipyard to simulate production processes and equipment operations in a digital environment, with the goal of establishing an autonomous manufacturing system that digitally connects design, production, logistics, inspection, and sea trials.

HD Hyundai and Kiewit Offshore Services have entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement to collaborate on shipbuilding projects serving the U.S. market. The agreement was signed on July 16 at Kiewit Offshore Services' headquarters in Ingleside, Texas, by Hannae Choi, Executive Vice President of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, and Chad Johnson, President of Kiewit Offshore Services. The partnership aims to expand U.S. shipbuilding capacity and strengthen the maritime industrial base by combining HD Hyundai's ship design and manufacturing expertise with Kiewit's large-scale fabrication and project execution capabilities. The companies will pursue opportunities including the fabrication of ship blocks and modules, leveraging advanced manufacturing methods to increase domestic production. HD Hyundai is the world's largest shipbuilder, while Kiewit, with 2025 revenues of $18.2 billion and 34,500 employees, is one of North America's premier construction and engineering organizations.
